The NBL President's Cup is a very special, one of a kind, race, in which states compete against each other on December 27th, each year. The atmosphere at this race is like no other, whereby whole state rooting sections are cheering for every rider from their state. Indeed, many spectators bring cowbells, whistles, horns, etc to make sure their team is recognized! You will be indoors, so no need to worry about the weather.
Riders may sign up for a CA jersey for this race, starting in September at that qualifier, and continuing at the Championship Race. Riders pay for their jersey, then are reimbursed for the jersey at the President's Cup Race. Only those riders attending the race may own one of these special jerseys.
Riders receive cash at the race to help reimburse them for their travel expenses. Golden State BMX takes 8% of every entry and saves it throughout the year for a pot of money that is divided up by the number of riders who attend and race for the State of California. If a rider races both class and cruiser, then Golden State reimburses the rider for the entry fee for the cruiser. Families make their own travel and room arrangements.
Look for the President's Cup story hanging on a fence at any state qualifier, and talk to any of the riders listed there, and you will find they are very excited to tell you about this race! Join the team! We'd be happy to have you!

2010 Team California at the President's Cup in Columbus, Ohio
Team California did an awesome job with 15 riders who traveled to the 2010 NBL President's Cup Race in Columbus, Ohio. Some of the riders raced in 3 classes, racing class, cruiser and open. The team finished with 19 riders making it to their mains with some classes having 1/8ths. There were 172 motos in the President's Cup this year. California tied with the state of Kentucky for 10th place, California lost the tie due to Kentucky having more 1st places. CA riders were stoked to receive their 2010 Team California Jersey produced by Hot Shoppe and also received cash for their expenses. Most riders stayed for the Christmas Classic, 2 days of racing, with nearly 2000 riders.
